| My Bluto was test flown in 25mph winds up one of our smallest hills. Only around 150 feet high but with quite smooth lift. It really is quite fast in comparison to the JW but doesn't seem to turn as tightly. It responds really well to big open manouevres and grooves really well. Big sweeping loops are just fantastic and inverted is just as much fun as upright. The roll rate is just too quick to count sometimes and the model will carry its energy well with long vertical climbs possible up to predictable stall turns. Get it too slow though and it will start to nod at a stall. It has never dropped a wing or flicked on me yet. The elevator throws are misiscule but the ailerons will take as much as you can throw at them. I flew it to qualify for my first pylon race final at Whitesheet BMFA 2 2002 (swapping it for my 'safer' sblitz 60 for the final, which I won) and have recently had the opportunity to DS the model in below average conditions. Nevertheless, Bluto did well but seems to prefer a bigger, smoother circle than the JW and it doesn't seem to loose its speed as quickly. Overall I'm really pleased with it and it has always provoked comments on the slope. Mainly about its outline, but often about its speed. I think on a more ballistic day where the turns on a pylon course can almost be extended into a lazy eight it will be a real winner. It is already proving itself in America where I read that 'all bets were off!' As for the UK, we'll have to wait and see. |
